Conductor and composer Lydia Tár becomes the first female conductor of the Berlin Orchestra. From producer-writer-director Todd Field comes TÁR, starring Cate Blanchett as the iconic musician. Director admitted that the script was created exactly for Blanchett.

Bernstein’s personality never ceases to inspire directors. In addition to the new Netflix film dedicated to the biography of the conductor, Bernstein has become an indirect character in the Hollywood drama, giving the action a historical concreteness. In the main competition program of 2022 Venice International Film Festival, the film “Tar” was awarded, in which the main role was played by two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett. The role of Lydia Tar – a fictional character, but a student of the very specific legendary Leonard Bernstein, the first woman conductor of one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world – the Berlin Philharmonic – promises to become an Oscar winner.

The brilliant career of a female conductor is on the verge of collapse due to the scandal surrounding her personal life, which she associates with other women.
