On this day 1934 Van Cliburn, American pianist (Tchaikovsky Competition winner, 1958), born in Shreveport, Louisiana (d. 2013).

This is the premier release of Van Cliburn’s amazing concert. It was recorded in Moscow on July 2, 1989 at Tchaikovsky Hall.
