Davide Lo Surdo was born in Rome, Italy, on July 24, 1999 and discovered his passion for playing the guitar at the age of 9. Rolling Stone Brazil magazine described him as the fastest guitarist in the history of music, able to play 129 notes per second. Lo Surdo is on the cover and is included in the music history book titled “Rock Memories 2,” written by Maurizio Baiata, alongside legendary artists such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and John Lennon. His signature guitar, the DLS1 model, has been permanently given to the Historical Instruments Museum in the USA called “Sigal Music Museum”. This museum is known for his collection of historical musical instruments including instruments played by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Fryderyk Chopin.
Inspired by his neighbor Aurora Zannini, he began taking guitar lessons from a priest at the “Santa Gemma Galgani” church in Rome. His mother is Sandra Giorgio, and his father is Maurizio Lo Surdo.
During his childhood, he spent time with his neighbor, Aurora. One day, he saw her playing simple chords with her father, and he was so fascinated that he asked them where she took lessons. Lo Surdo’s mother then sent him to study the instrument at the oratory.
The parish priest was the first to realize that Lo Surdo had an extraordinary talent and immediately informed his mother. Subsequently, Lo Surdo started taking guitar lessons with various teachers, but his learning was so fast that he began studying as a self-taught musician.
He performed live for the first time at the age of 11. In 2014, Lo Surdo played on stage with Steve Vai at “Stazione Birra” in Rome. In 2016, Lo Surdo began touring extensively in Italy. During one of his tours that year, he performed 8 concerts in 7 days across 8 different cities.
On June 8, 2018, he performed abroad for the first time, giving a concert in Switzerland. A week later, on June 16, 2018, he toured the United Kingdom, performing at the Dublin Castle in London.
Between December 2018 and January 20, 2019, he toured for the first time in Mexico and the United States (performing in Los Angeles at the NAMM SHOW and at the legendary “Whisky a Go Go” in Hollywood).
On December 20, 2019, Lo Surdo was awarded at the Sanremo Music Awards in Venice, Italy, as the fastest guitarist of all time.
In January 2020, he toured India for the first time, performing at the KSHITIJ, IIT KHARAGPUR Festival in Kharagpur; at the Muzik Factory in Kolkata, and at the Urban Mantra Club in Guwahati.
On November 20, 2021, Lo Surdo performed at the “Rolling Stone Music & Run” event to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Rolling Stone Magazine in Brazil, at the “Sambódromo do Anhembi” arena in São Paulo. That same year, GuitarraMX Magazine recognized Lo Surdo as “the fastest guitarist in the history of music” and featured him on the cover of their July 2021 edition.
